Sermon notes from Pastor Paula White
WALKING IN THE FAVOUR OF GOD : #2
Pro. 1:1-9, The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; 2To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; 3To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; 4To give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. 5A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: 6To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

E.)BE DILIGENT IN SEEKING THE LORD
HEB 11:6, 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

5 LESSONS FROM THE ANTS –
A.) THEY TAKE INITATIVE – DO NOT NEED WORK ORDERS CONTINUALLY
B.) SELF – MOTIVATED – DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE HOLDING THEIR HAND
C.) RESPECT FOR THE SEASONS OF LIFE – THEY KNOW WHEN TO STORE UP AND THEY KNOW WHEN TO SPEND.
D.) THEY ARE FINISHERS – THEY ALWAYS FINISH WHAT THEY START
E.)HAVE FORESIGHT – THEY MAKE PLANS FOR THE FUTURE, THEY PREPARE THROUGH STRATEGY NOT BY EMOTION.
5.) KNOWLEDGE:
PRO. 24:3-4, Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
KNOWLEDGE - (HEB) TO KNOW THROUGH INSTRUCTION
KNOWLEDGE - TO BE WELL INFORMED, OR ACQUANTED WITH.
KNOWLEDGE – THE ACCUMULATION OF FACTS OR INFORMATION.
PLEASANT - NAWAME - TO BE AGREEABLE!
RICHES - ENOUGH WEALTH

WISE MEN STORE UP KNOWLEDGE

THE DANGER OF A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE –
THE “ANTI-INTELLECTUALISM” PHILOSOPHY
PRO. 19:2, Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good;
HOS. 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
6.) INSTRUCTION:
PRO. 1:8, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

PRO. 4:10-13, 10Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. 11I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. 12When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. 13Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
INSTRUCTION – (HEB) properly chastisement, reproof, or warning, also restraint:— check, correction, discipline, doctrine, OR rebuke.
“TAKE HOLD” – TO FASTEN UPON OR TO SEIZE.
“KEEP HER” – GUARD IT AND PROTECT IT.
modes of insTructing –
Ø teaching
Ø training
Ø coaching
*in order to be an instructor you must have knowledge.
knowledge is information, instruction is direction.
knowledge is the what.
inSTRUCtion is the how to.
*instruction is for direction or TO GIVE an order.
PRO. 23:12, Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
CORRECT WAYS TO RECEIVE INSTRUCTION –
A.) WITH HUMILITY – THE OPPOSITE OF PRIDE, PROUD PEOPLE HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME WITH INSTRUCTION.
B.) OPENLY – BE OPEN TO INSTRUCTION, EVEN IF IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE.

7.) UNDERSTANDING:
PRO.5:1, My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
UNDERSTANDING – KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED, RETAINED AND EXTENDED.
PRO. 24:1-3, Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
Ø WHERE THERE IS NO UNDERSTANDING NOTHING IS ESTABLISHED.
ESTABLISHED -(HEB) PREPARED TO STAND UP, TO BE FIXED OR FRAMED.
UNDERSTANDING-(GR)-TO PUT TOGETHER, TO SEND,TO BE WISE, UNION BY ASSOCIATION, OR TO GRASP AND COMPREHEND.
UNDERSTANDING IS THE ABILITY TO SEE HOW EVERY EVENT IN LIFE RELATES TO A BIGGER PICTURE.
UNDERSTAND - (WEB) [ AN OLD ANGLO SAXON WORD UNDERSTANDAN, WHICH MEANS STAND UNDER.] TO TAKE AS MEANT.
UNDERSTANDING-(WEB) COMPREHENSION, JUDGEMENT, A MUTUAL AGREEMENT THAT SETTLES DIFFERENCES.
PRO.3:13, Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
PRO. 4:5-7, Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
UNDERSTANDING-(HEB)-INTELLIGENCE AND DISCRETION THAT CAUSES SUCCESS
WHERE THERE IS UNDERSTANDING THE HOUSE CAN NOT BE DESTROYED!
MATT.13: 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
VERY SIMPLY PUT, IF THE ENEMY CAN TAKE WHAT YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO TAKE WHAT YOU DO UNDERSTAND!
